It is said that if you want to become a master at a trade, follow the people that are already making it in same area. To this effect, I want to share the four people I’ve found amazing in following in my journey of being a writer.
1. Jeff Goins
He is the best-selling author of five books including the The Art of Work and Real Artists Don’t Starve. He shares his thoughts on writing, life, and creative work. I’ve learnt a lot from his writing tips (for example, the 3-bucket system). His The Portfolio Life podcasts, webinars, free blogging courses and other useful resources have all been so helpful and impactful. I have learnt tips on blogging effectively and creating a writing schedule, mainly from his weekly podcast interviews. Go here for his website. www.goinswriter.com.
2. Tim Grahl
Tim helps authors connect with readers and sell more books. He is also the author of ‘Your First 1000 Copies’ and ‘Book Launch Blueprint’, the two books you need to have as a writer if you want to have a grasp on your marketing strategies. The articles he puts on his site are so helpful that I’m mostly blown away each time I receive his email. I’ve learnt a lot on marketing through his articles. His explanations of marketing (which I used to dread) made so much sense that I changed my perception on marketing entirely. According to him, marketing is forming relationship with one’s readers and being massively helpful to them. You can check out his site here at www.booklaunch.com.
3. Umm Zakiyyah
She’s one of my best author ever! I love and enjoy her writing so much that I sometimes don’t want her book to come to an end. I have bought and read most of her novels which have impacted me so much that I shed some tears along the way to reading bliss. Her works motivate me to get better in my writing and I see a mentor in her. I believe most of you might have heard about her because she’s an international published writer of the If I Should Speak trilogy and more than 20 other books. I welcome you to click here, www.uzauthor.com to get transported to another era! You can also check out one of her book that I’ve reviewed here on my blog.
4. Layinka Sanni
She is an amazing writing coach I’ve had the honour to meet virtually. She asks questions that will get into your innermost deep part to uproot whatever is the reason your writing is lacking or you’re discouraged to move ahead. I’ve learnt some of the techniques I use in my writing from her. Layinka is the founder, Evolve & Emerge, where she helps women grow, rise and soar as exceptional version of themselves. She is a resourceful person that you cannot but like and admire her tenacity. You can look at her offers at www.layinkasanni.com to get acquainted.
Yeah, those are the top 4 people I follow to enhance my writing, blogging and marketing activities.
